Today Mostyn is celebrating the 60th anniversary of his ordination. An amazing achievement. Many of those years have been spent with us as an Associate Minister in the Ness Group, and for his long ministry among us – for his humour, his wisdom, and his steady presence – we offer our heartfelt thanks.
As a group of seven churches in the Local Mission Partnership, we are blessed with nine Authorised Lay Ministers of which there are seven here at Thurlby and one at Langtoft ( Michael having given us this valuable training for ministry)
Mostyn has given us the confidence to grow into these ministries. By inviting us to lead services alongside him, he helped us discover that we, too, could step forward to lead Morning Prayer here and, when needed, across the Ness Group.
We are deeply grateful to him for this encouragement and trust. We know that not every church in our diocese values its ALMs in this way, and we are grateful that Mostyn always has.
So today, we honour not only Mostyn’s sixty years of ministry, but the way he has shaped ours. We honour his kindness, his patience, his humour, and his belief in us.
We are very lucky in that we get an added bonus of Alison coming along with him as our organist and we take this chance to thank her also for all the support she gives in the Ness Group ,we are grateful for all she contributes to our worship with her music.
So after this special service we invite you all stay, to share celebratory cake and to raise a glass to our much loved friend and colleague Mostyn
