The 1100th Year of St Firmin’s Church

Our year started brilliantly with Carolyn becoming a Canon for Lincoln Cathedral.

Our May Refresh Cafe had a Craft Market. The Doves are our installation of Peace doves for the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Open Gardens for the village our stand for the churchyard biodiversity.

A very enjoyable and well supported joint choirs concert.

St Firmin’s Church Celebrated its 100th Anniversary on the 5th and 6th of July. A delicious afternoon tea for the village on the 5th, a celebration service in the morning of the 6th followed by cake and bubbly, with Bishop Nicholas of Grantham presiding, and a magical recital by Serenity Flutes that afternoon followed by tea. A really celebratory weekend!

Our amazing village photo collection brought nearly 450 people in to church during the week it was on display, lots of chatter and catching up for friends not seen for a while!

Fantastic work for Stamford stitchers exhibition.

Songs of Praise for the Patronal Festival of St Firmin followed by a shared meal.

Work continues to improve the bio-diversity of our churchyard.

Our Ness Group winter collection for Ukraine including Christmas boxes for the children.

We raised money for Don’t Lose Hope with Wreath Making at our December Refresh Cafe.

We finished the year with our lovely Christmas Services – Christingle, Carol Service, Crib Service Midnight Service and Christmas morning Family Communion. Our bellringers were amazing ringing at all our services including a wedding on the 23rd December. Its been a great year seen lots of new people enjoyed meals and chats and old friends. A great celebration of our 1100 years anniversary – and we are older than Lincoln Cathedral isn’t that amazing!
