Whats on in the Ness Group – October

Ness Group Harvest ServicesThis year’s Harvest Services will take place on the following days. 

It would be lovely if you are able to come along and enjoy the services Sunday 24th September – 10am – Family Harvest Service – Langtoft Sunday 24th September – 10.30am—Joint Harvest Service with Methodist and Thurlby Sunday 1st October – 10am – Family Harvest Service – Thurlby Sunday 15th October – 10am – Group Harvest Service – Baston Harvest Crafternoon – Sunday 8th October –  2pm – 4pm – Crafternoon St John’s , Baston will be holding their popular Crafternoon in church making Harvest related crafts. This is principally for families but all are welcome. Tea and cake will be available to anyone who would like to pop in during the afternoon and see what’s going on. Harvest Auction – Tuesday 10th October – 8 pm St John’s, Baston will be holding their annual Harvest Auction in the White Horse with a professional auctioneer. Proceeds to be shared between Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and the church.  Please bring Harvest gifts of jams, chutneys, tins, packets) to church over the weekend 6/7/8 October for the Harvest Auction. Fresh fruit/veg/cakes can be taken to the White Horse on the night.

Weekly Home Group – Wednesdays in October – 7pm til 8.30pm

Starting  7pm til 8.30pm  6th September Vicarage at 10 Church Street, Thurlby.  This will be a relaxed evening where we will explore some of the basics of our faith, the creeds, and holy communion for a start, no previous knowledge necessary, just come along, bring a Bible if you have one.

This will also be the basis of preparing for confirmation in October, but open to everyone.

Thursday 5th October 12 noon – 1.30pm

St John’s Church, Baston will be holding the first of the new season of lunches in church. Home-made soup, roll and butter, hot pudding and custard, tea/coffee £6.50. Bring a friend. Meet others. Enjoy a chat.

ReFresh Café – Sunday 8th October 2pm-4pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding a ReFresh Café.  Come and join us for a cuppa, cake and a chat and meet some of the talented people from our village who make and craft. Everyone welcome, no charge. There will be unique handmade items for sale.

Sing Along a New Song! – Sunday 15th October – 3pm – 5pm

Come along for a sing song, an opportunity to learn some new songs with good company, tea and of course cake in St Firmin Church, Thurlby!

Autumn Fair & Craft Café – Saturday 21st October – 10am – 2pm

St Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be having their Autumn Fair and Craft Café. Bacon butties, soup, homemade cakes, Lucky Dip, local Crafts stalls, Book Stall an Christmas ideas.  All welcome.

Vocations Day DSN – Saturday 21st October – 11am-3pm

Deeping St Nicholas Church will be holding a Vocations Day.  The day will have lunch provided, pop along and just see!

Repair Café – Sunday 29th October – 2pm to 5pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding their very popular Repair Café in the Church Hall.  A meeting place to come and repair your broken items, seek professional advice and get inspiration and it is completely FREE.  So bring along something to repair or just come and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of delicious cake.  For more information please ring Mary Trumble on 01778 423500.

Langtoft Open Church – Every Saturday – 10.30am – 12.30pm

St Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be open again for tea, coffee, biscuits and chat, please do join us.

MOTHERS’ UNION Wed 4th October 2.15pm We will be joining in with Bourne Mothers’ Union at Bourne Abbey Church Hall to hear Susan Macey talk about ‘The Angel Tree Project’ – raising funds to enable prisoners at Stocken Prison to send Christmas presents to their children. Thursday 12th October – 10am – 3pm We will be holding our Mothers’ Union Retreat at Washingborough Methodist Church.  The theme will be ‘Exploring St. Luke’.  A Retreat is always a special experience and as with all our meetings and activities, we welcome anyone who would like to come along. Tuesday 17th October – 2.15pm We will be holding our usual monthly meeting in the Church Hall, Thurlby.  It will be a time for us to catch up with one another as we haven’t had a ‘proper’ meeting since June!   Do give me a ring if you would like to know more about Mothers’ Union – Patsy Moore (Branch Leader) 01778 423505.
