Ness Group All Souls Service

Sunday 2nd November – 6pm This year’s All Souls Service will take place in St Firmin Church, Thurlby.  If you would like to come and light a candle for your loved ones you would be most welcome.

Ness Group Remembrance Services This year we will be holding all of our Remembrance Services  at 10.50am on Sunday 9th November in each of our churches. It would be lovely to see you there.

Home Group – Changed to after the Thursday mid-week service The Home Group will now meet after the Thursday mid-week service, please check which church it will be in on the front of the What’s On.   If you want to know more call Carolyn on 01778703093 or email: ness.rector@gmail.com

Langtoft Open Church Saturday 1st, 8th, 22nd & 29th November from 10.30am – 12.30pm

St Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be open for coffee, tea, biscuits and toast. Please note that there will not be coffee on 30th due to a wedding.

Board Games and Social Afternoon – Every Monday – 2pm – 4pm St John’s Church, Baston are pleased to announce our new Board Games & Social afternoon every Monday afternoon.  There will be a friendly space where you can enjoy a drink and play games.  If you may want to chat, read a book or even spend an hour before you do the school pick-up, please do come along and join us. 

Monday 3rd November – 7.30pm-9pm St Firmin’s Monthly Prayer meeting will take place at Eden Cottage, 79 Northorpe.  We welcome anyone who would like to join us or ring us with your prayer requests – (01778 423505).

A Stitch in Time – Every Thursday evening 7-9pm and Saturday afternoon 2-4pm The stitching group in St John’s Church, Baston will be meeting in church.  Everyone is most welcome to come along.

Refresh Café Craft Fair – Sunday 9th November – 2pm –  4pm St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding their Refresh Café in church.  Come along, it’s a  great chance to pick up a unique Christmas Gift and of course tea and cake!

Wednesday 12th November – 2pm An invitation to join CAMEO in Baston Church where Colin Avery will be returning to entertain the meeting with music and songs. Everyone will be welcome. Small charge for refreshments. (Colin plays regularly for services in Baston and Thurlby churches.)

Langtoft Monthly Cake and Bacon Butty morning Saturday 15th November – 10am – 1pm

St Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be holding their monthly cake and bacon butties morning in church.  Cakes, bacon butties and homemade soup, hot drinks plus Lucky Dip table.

Tuesday 18th November – 2.15pm The Mothers’ Union will be holding their monthly meeting at Almond Court Social Room, Northorpe when the main topic will be the Annual Wave of Prayer.  There is also the opportunity for members to attend the MU Winter Council – an encouraging and uplifting event – to be held on Monday 10th November at Washingborough Methodist Church.  For more information please ring Angela (561718) or Patsy (423505).

Baston Christmas Wreath Making Saturday 22nd November – 2 sessions – 10am and 2pm St John’s Church, Baston will be holding their very popular Christmas Wreath Making.  There will be 2 sessions – 10am and 2pm.  The cost is £35 per wreath which will include all materials, hot drink and mince pie and will be under the instruction of Jo, maximum of 12 per session. A £5 deposit will secure your place, so please book as soon as possible with the balance payable on the day or before if you wish. Payment and contact details in an envelope and put into the wall safe just inside the church door, or send a cheque payable to St John the Baptist Church, Baston with your contact details to Maryon Avery, 18 Maltby Drive, Baston, PE6 9QR or ask Maryon for BACS’s details if you wish to pay by bank transfer. Repair Café – Sunday 30th November – 2pm to 4.30pm St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding their very popular Repair Café at Thurlby Methodist Hall.  A meeting place to come and repair your broken items, seek professional advice and get inspiration and it is completely FREE.  So bring along something to repair or just come and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of delicious cake.  For more information please ring Mary Trumble on 07432 156298.

6pm – Advent Carol Service, St John, Baston

Helping our Ukrainian Friends

All three churches in the Ness Group are collecting items for Helping Our Ukrainian Friends’  winter delivery to Ukraine. Food, toys, games, musical instruments, medical supplies, batteries, torches, hygiene items are all being requested. (Detailed lists are in the churches and on each church’s Facebook page.) The last date for you to bring your contributions to St Michael’s Langtoft is 10 November, and 12 November to St John’s Baston and St Firmin’s Thurlby. Please help if you can, even if it’s just one item. The situation is desperate and the need is great.
