Prayer Meeting – Monday 1st October – 7.30pm

Mothers Union – Wednesday 3rd October

There will be no meeting this month for the Mothers’ Union but members will be attending a Cluster Group Lunch at Bourne Abbey Church Hall on 3rd October.  For more information on any aspect of the Mothers’ Union work or membership, please ring Patsy on 01778 423505.

Lunches – Thursday 4th October – 12 noon

St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be starting their Monthly Lunches in church.  Soup & roll, hot pudding with custard, fruit, tea or coffee for just £5, under school age children £1.50 (either pasta shapes or beans, pudding.

Table Top Sale – Saturday 6th October – 10am to 2pm

St. Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be holding a Table Top Sale in church, along with cake stall, CD’s and DVD’s for sale and their popular ‘Pot-Luck’ table.  Tables approx 6ft are £5 which includes complimentary coffee or tea.  Refreshments will be available during the sale with light lunches from midday.  More details from Judy on 01778 343383.

Charity collection of clothes, household linen, handbags and other items.  This will take place in the middle of October to raise funds for Langtoft Church.  More details will be available nearer the time. All donations will be gratefully received.

The church is open each Saturday during the month, between 10am and 12 noon, and coffee and tea are available.


Harvest Supper – Also on the 6th October – 7pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding a Harvest Supper in the Church Hall followed by an illustrated talk by Mary Trumble about Mary & Mike’s return trip to China.  Tickets £10 (£5 children) and are available from Patsy Moore on 01778 423505 or Freda Young on 01778 425801.

Concert – Also on the same day at 7pm

Rock of Ages will be performing a Charity Gig ‘We Shall Overcome Concert’ in support of the Market Deeping and Bourne Food Banks in St Michael’s Church, Langtoft.  Entry is free, you just need to donate an item of food (no beans or pasta please), toiletries or a little luxury that will give joy to a needy person.

Craft Session – Saturday 13th October – 2pm to 4pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding a second Poppy Crafting Session in the Church Hall.  Materials and refreshments provided.

Quiz Night – Saturday 13th October – 7.30pm

The Ness Group Choir will be holding a Quiz Night in St Firmin Church Hall, Thurlby. Teams of up to 6 players, £10 per team . Bring own refreshments.

Sunday 14th October – 12.30pm

We welcome the family and friends of Mia Victoria Georgiou as she is baptised into the worldwide church in St Michael’s Church, Langtoft.

Puppet Plus – Also on the same day at 3pm

St Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be holding their ‘Puppet Plus’ performance of the ‘Story of Moses’.  Rock of Ages will be joining in with the puppets to bring an action packed show of Moses’ life.

Tickets are £5 for those over twelve, children free, which includes afternoon tea following the performance.  If you would like to be involved with the show, or come into church on a Saturday morning to make some of the scenery or props, please contact Judy on 01778 343383.  All ages most welcome to join in!

Harvest Auction – Monday 15th October – 8pm

St John’s Church, Baston will be holding their annual Harvest Auction in the White Horse pub, Baston.  All produce welcomed, please leave in the church by Saturday 13th ready for the Harvest Service at 10am on Sunday 14th October.


Afternoon Tea at the Vicarage

Monday 15th October from 2pm to 4pm

Revd Carolyn Bailey will be having an open afternoon at the Vicarage.  A chance to pop along have tea, cake and a chat.  All will be most warmly welcomed.

Concert – Saturday 20th October – 7.30pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding a concert by ‘Rock of Ages’ in the church.  Tickets £5 and are available from either Patsy (01778 423505) Freda (01778 425801) or Richard (01778 345423).  Proceeds to St Firmin Church.

Monday 22nd October – 2pm

The Ness Group Film Club meets in the Church Hall in Thurlby.  The film is “La La Land”.  Donation of £2.50.  Please do come along and have a nice relaxing time watching the film and then chatting to friends afterwards while you have afternoon tea.

Armistice 100

This year our Remembrance will also involve a measure of thanksgiving as we celebrate the end of WW1 100 years ago. We would like to have a poppy display in church, with home made poppies in a flowing display within the church. Please spread the word, knit, sew, crochet, assemble your poppies and bring them to the church for the beginning of November, if you are attached to Thurlby village or one of the many groups within the village please get involved.
