Whats on in the Ness Group – June 2019

Saturday 1st June – 2pm to 4pm Summer Fayre

St. Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding their Summer Fayre in the church and gardens of East Dean House next to the church.  A wide selection of stalls including cakes, plants, books, DVDs, bric-a-brac, toys, jewellery and gifts.  Also tombola, face painting, raffle, entertainment and lots more, with our local PCSO taking finger prints and mug shots! There will be live entertainment and refreshments inside the church and also in the garden.

Donations of items to sell on the day, or offers of help with the stalls, will be gratefully received.  Please contact Judy Robinson on 01778 343383 or judy@cookingforlargenumbers.com.  Please note there will be no Saturday Sale on 1st June.

The church is open each Saturday during the month, between 10am and 12 noon and coffee and tea are available.

Monday 3rd June – 7.30pm Prayer Meeting –

St Firmin’s monthly Prayer Meeting will be held at Peter and Patsy Moore’s home – 79 Northorpe, Thurlby – everyone is welcome and prayer requests may be left on the prayer board in the porch at St Firmin Church, Thurlby or ring 01778 423505.

Thursday 6th JuneMusic in Quiet Places

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding a ‘Music in Quiet Places – Castalian String Quartet.  There will be 20 tickets available on the door on the day but to be sure you get a seat please book with the Arts Centre, Stamford.

Saturday 8th June – 10am

Rock of Ages will be leading the singing at the ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ worship in Lincoln Cathedral.  The band will play before the service as the congregation assembles, lead the singing for the service and a prayer/worship station in the Chapter House during the service programme.

Sunday 9th June – 11am – 4pm

St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be holding a stall at the Baston Fete, Bottle Game, Children’s Tombola and Skittles.  Do come along and enjoy the day with us.

Open Gardens

Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th June – 1.30pm – 5pm

Thurlby will be holding their Open Gardens on this weekend.  Pick up the garden guide at Thurlby Methodist Chapel, High Street, Thurlby.  £4 adults, children under 12 free.  There will be a Children’s Scavenger Hunt, Scarecrows and Wheelbarrows, afternoon tea and crafts for children.

Monday 10th June – 10am to 2pmMothers’ Union

The Mothers’ Union will be holding their Diocesan AGM and Summer Council at Horncastle.

Tuesday 18th June – 3-5pm

The Mothers’ Union will be holding a ‘Strawberry Teas’ at Eden Cottage, 79 Northorpe, Thurlby.  Proceeds to Mothers’ Union work with families at home and overseas.  £4 entry – raffle – bring and buy – everyone welcome.

Saturday 22nd June – 7pm for 7.30pm start

St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be celebrating its Feast Weekend.  A concert by ’PavaNotti’ (Jeff Woods) will take  place in the church.  Tickets £10 Adult & £5 under 14s which will include a glass of wine or orange juice.  For Tickets contact Diane Savage on 01778 560847 or Maryon Avery on 01778 561568.

Sunday 23rd June – 6pm

St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be holding their Songs of Praise.  Slips will soon be in Church for you to write down your favourite hymn.

Sunday 23rd June – Ness Group Churchwardens Visitation– Edenham

The Ness Group Churchwardens will be sworn in as Churchwardens on the following dates at 6pm and it would be lovely if you would come along and support them at this service or pray for them.

Monday 24th June

The Ness Group Film Club meets in the Church Hall in Thurlby.  The film is “The Greatest Showman”.  Donation of £2.50.  Please do come along and have a nice relaxing time watching the film and then chatting to friends afterwards while you have afternoon tea.

Friday 28th June – 2pm to 4pm

Rev Carolyn Bailey will be hosting another of her lovely Afternoon Teas at the vicarage.  All most welcome to come along and have a cuppa and a natter.

Saturday 29th June – 7pm

The Rogues and Ruffians will be holding a ‘Music for Everyone’ night in St John the Baptist Church, Baston.  Tickets £5 each.  Proceeds to ‘Breast Cancer Now and the church.  Tickets available in Baston Shop, from the musicians and from PCC members.  Tea/coffee available.

Sunday 30th June – 2pm to 5pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding their very popular Repair Café in the Church Hall.  A meeting place to come and repair all of your broken items, seek professional advice and get inspiration and it is completely FREE.  So bring along something to repair or just come and enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of delicious cake.  For more information please ring Mary Trumble on 01778 423500.
