Annual Parochial Church Meetings

The Ness Group of churches will be holding their Annual Parochial Church Meetings, so please do come along.  The dates are:

Thurlby – 25th March at 7.30pm in the church

Baston – Monday 8th April at 7.45pm in the church

Langtoft – Monday 1st April at 7.30pm in the church

Prayer Meeting – Monday 1st April – 7.30pm

Prayer Meeting at Peter and Patsy Moore’s home – 79 Northorpe, Thurlby – we welcome your prayer requests and enquiries – please ring Patsy on 01778 423505 or leave a note on the prayer board in the porch at St Firmin Church, Thurlby.

Lent Lunches

Wednesday 3rd & 10th April – 12 noon to 2pm

St Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will start their Lent Lunches in church.  Come along and enjoy a bowl of delicious homemade soup with roll and butter, followed by cheese and biscuits and coffee or tea.  The suggested donation for the lunch is £4.00 and the proceeds will be divided between the church and Christian Aid.

Thursday 4th & 11th April – – 12 noon to 1.30pm

St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be holding their Monthly Lunches in church.  Soup & roll, hot pudding with custard, fruit, tea or coffee for just £5, under school age children £1.50 (either pasta shapes or beans, pudding).

Pop in for Prayer Friday 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th April – 9.15am to 10am

St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be holding a pop in for a quiet time of prayer. Take a moment out of the hustle and bustle; pause and pray. No need to book, everyone welcome.

Saturday Sale – Saturday 6th April – 10am to 12 noon

St. Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding their Saturday Sale in church.  Freshly made bacon butties to have with tea or coffee.  Cake stall, bric-a-brac, CDs and DVDs and our popular ‘Pot Luck’ table.  Homemade cakes and other produce to sell on the cake stall are always in demand.

The church is open each Saturday during the month, between 10am and 12 noon and coffee and tea are available.

Saturday 1st June
St. Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be our Summer Fayre and we would like to expand our plant stall if at all possible.  So we are appealing to all green fingered gardeners if they might be able to grow a tray of seeds on for us or split some plants up and donate them to the church to enable us to sell them.

Easter Coffee Morning – Saturday 13th April – 10am – 12 noon

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding an Easter Coffee Morning in the home of 3 Viking Way.  Proceeds to new car park lighting.

Ness Group Lent Film – Saturday 13th April – 7pm

The Ness Group will be showing a film called “Workers” in the Church Hall, Thurlby.  This film portrays the experiences of 10 workers in local food factories and packing houses in the Peterborough/South Lincolnshire Area.  The 10 individuals come from diverse background and include British Nationals, European and International migrants. The account of their experiences are moving, revealing issues that concern us all, but also portray immense resilience and humanity.   The film will be followed by a discussion with Mostyn Davies and the film director. 

Lent Evening Meal – Tuesday 2nd & 9th April – 7pm

The Ness Group will be continuing the Lent – Evening Meals – venues to be confirmed.  Meet and Eat together with some discussion points and simple food.  For more information please contact Rev Carolyn Bailey – 01778 703093.

Mothers’ Union – Tuesday 16th April – 2.15pm

The Mothers’ Union will be holding their monthly meeting at St Firmin’s Church Hall, Thurlby.  Speaker will be Ken Otter – ‘Family History’.  We welcome anyone who would like to join us for this or any of our events.  Please ring Patsy on 01778 423505 if you would like to know more details regarding the Mothers’ Union.

Saturday 20th April – 12 noon to 2pm

St Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be holding their annual Decorated Egg competition.  Please bring your entries for the competition to the church.  Judging will take please in the afternoon.  Age group categories: Pre-school -4yrs; 5-7 yrs; 8-11 yrs; 11-14 yrs & Adult.

Monday 22nd April – 2pm

The Ness Group Film Club meets in the Church Hall in Thurlby.  The film is “Florence Nightingale”.  Donation of £2.50.  Please do come along and have a nice relaxing time watching the film and then chatting to friends afterwards while you have afternoon tea.

Saturday 27th April – 10am to 4pm

St Michael’s Church, Langtoft will be holding their Easter Egg Trails.  There are trails for very young children, older children and adults.  Only £1 to take part and everyone gets an egg!  Light refreshments all day with sandwich lunches from midday.  Easter tombola.  At 11am and 2pm ‘Puppets Plus’ will be performing a very short play ‘The Story of Easter’  There is no charge to watch the performance.  For more details please contact Judy Robinson on 01778 343383.

Sunday 28th April – 2pm to 5pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding their very popular Repair Café in the Church Hall.  A meeting place to come and repair all of your broken items, seek professional advice and get inspiration and it is completely FREE.  Refreshments available and for more information please ring Mary Trumble on 01778 423500.
