Whats on in the Ness Group -September 2019

Prayer Meeting – Monday 2nd September – 7.30pm

St Firmin’s monthly Prayer Meeting will be held at Peter and Patsy Moore’s home – 79 Northorpe, Thurlby – everyone is welcome and prayer requests may be left on the prayer board in the porch at St Firmin Church, Thurlby or ring 01778 423505.

Thursday 5th September – 6.30pm

Come to an open meeting at St John the Baptist Church, Baston for an hour and share your ideas/suggestions for the Baston Christmas Event which will be held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December.

Saturday Sale – Saturday 7th September – 10am – 12 noon

St. Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding their Saturday Sale in the church.  Freshly made bacon butties to have with tea or coffee. Cakes and produce, bric-a-brac, CDs and DVDs and our popular ‘Pot Luck’ table.

The church is open each Saturday during the month, between 10am and 12 noon and coffee and tea are available.

Quiz Night also on the Same day – 7pm for 7.30pm start

St Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding a Quiz Night and Supper.  Teams of up to six, but if you would like to come and are not part of a team we can put you with other people in a similar situation. The cost of the evening is £12.00 to include a fish and chip supper with dessert. Please bring your own drinks. Please ring Judy Robinson on 01778 343383 to book for the quiz.

Mothers’ Union

Tuesday 17th September – 12 for 12.30pm

The Mothers’ Union will be holding their annual Cluster Lunch at St Firmin Church Hall, Thurlby.  For more information about these events or any aspect of the Mothers’ Union work please contact Patsy on 01778 423505

Sunday 22nd September – 3pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding a Churchyard Service to remember Loved ones in their churchyard, All most welcome to attend.

Film Club – Monday 23rd September

The Ness Group Film Club meets in the Church Hall in Thurlby.  The film is “The  Alamo”.  Donation of £2.50.  Please do come along and have a nice relaxing time watching the film and then chatting to friends afterwards while you have afternoon tea.

Harvest Events in the Ness Group

This year’s our Harvest Appeal will be for Water Aid.  Our Harvest Services will be as follows:

Sunday 22nd September – 10am – St Michael & All Angels, Langtoft.

Sunday 6th October – 10am – St Firmin, Thurlby

Sunday 13th October – 10am – St John the Baptist, Baston

Harvest Lunch – Wednesday 25th September

St Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding their Harvest Lunch. Our lunch includes a homemade vegetable soup, cold ham with baked potato and mixed salad, and apple pie with custard. Tea or coffee to follow. Tickets priced £9.00 will be on sale during September from the church or ring Judy Robinson on 01778 343383. To help with catering, please book your meal in advance.

Harvest Auction – Monday 14th October – 8pm

St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be holding their Harvest Auction in the White Horse Pub.  So please let us have your jams, pickles, produce, cakes, bread etc to the church for Saturday 12th October.

Afternoon Tea – Thursday 26th September – 2pm to 4pm

Rev Carolyn Bailey will be hosting another of her lovely Afternoon Teas at the vicarage.  All most welcome to come along and have a cuppa and a natter

Sunday 29th September – 2pm to 5pm

St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding their very popular Repair Café in the Church Hall.  A meeting place to come and repair all of your broken items, seek professional advice and get inspiration and it is completely FREE.  So bring along something to repair or just come and enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of delicious cake.  For more information please ring Mary Trumble on 01778 423500.

The Mothers’ Union will be holding a Quiet Day at San Damiago Retreat House, Metheringham.  The Leader will be The Rt. Rev. Rob Gillion.  We welcome anyone who would like to join us for this event.  The Cost: is  £12 per person.

Monthly Lunches – Thursday 3rd October – 12noon to 1.30pm

St John the Baptist, Baston will be holding their very popular Monthly Lunch.  Soup, roll and butter, hot pudding with custard, tea or coffee still only £5 adult and £1.50 pre school children who have a choice of beans or pasta shapes.
