Harvest Events in the Ness Group
This year our Harvest Appeal will be for Water Aid. Our Harvest Services will be as follows:
Sunday 22nd September – 10am – St Michael & All Angels, Langtoft.
Sunday 6th October – 10am – St Firmin, Thurlby
Sunday 13th October – 10am – St John the Baptist, Baston
Harvest Lunch – Wednesday 25th September
St Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding their Harvest Lunch. Our lunch includes a homemade vegetable soup, cold ham with baked potato and mixed salad and apple pie with custard. Tea or coffee to follow. Tickets priced £9.00 will be on sale during October from the church or ring Judy Robinson on 01778 343383. To help with catering, please book your meal in advance.
Harvest Auction – Monday 14th October – 8pm
St John the Baptist Church, Baston will be holding their Harvest Auction in the White Horse Pub with Kit or Robbie Longstaffe. So please let us have your jams, pickles, produce, cakes, bread etc to the church for Saturday 12th October.
Mothers’ Union – Thursday 3rd October – 10am-3.30pm
The Mothers’ Union will be holding a Quiet Day at San Damiago Retreat House, Metheringham. The leader will be The Rt. Rev. Rob Gillion. We welcome anyone who would like to join us for this event. The cost is £12 per person.
Monthly Lunches – Thursday 3rd October – 12 – 1.30pm
St John the Baptist, Baston will be holding their very popular Monthly Lunch. Soup, roll and butter, hot pudding with custard, tea or coffee still only £5 adult and £1.50 pre school children who have a choice of beans or pasta shapes.
Music in the Aisles – Thursday 3rd October – 7.15pm
St Firmin Church, Church Street, Thurlby will be holding a “Music in the Aisle” concert. A great evening of Traditional Jazz . Refreshments available at interval. Tickets £10 are available from Mary Trumble on 07432156298 or email:firstname.lastname@example.org
Saturday Sale – Saturday 5th October – 10am – 12 noon
St. Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding their Saturday Sale in the church. Freshly made bacon butties to have with tea or coffee. Cakes and produce, bric-a-brac, CDs and DVDs and our popular ‘Pot Luck’ table.
The church is open each Saturday during the month, between 10am and 12 noon and coffee and tea are available.
We Shall Overcome concert – Saturday 5th October – 7pm
St Michael and All Angels Church, Langtoft will be holding a free charity Concert In support of the Market Deeping and Bourne Food Banks as part of the national ‘We Shall Overcome’ campaign in the church. All you need to do is turn up with food donations ready to enjoy an evening of music, song and poetry by a whole array of bands and other artistes.
Prayer Meeting – Monday 7th October – 7.30pm
St Firmin’s monthly Prayer Meeting will be held at Peter and Patsy Moore’s home – 79 Northorpe, Thurlby – everyone is welcome and prayer requests may be left on the prayer board in the porch at St Firmin Church, Thurlby or ring 01778 423505.
Friday 11th, 18th & 25th October
St John the Baptist Church will be holding a Morning Prayer time every Friday morning, excluding 27th September and 4th October.
Ness Group Choir Quiz Night
Saturday 12th October – 7.30pm
The Ness Group Choir will be holding a Quiz Night in St Michael and all Angels Church, Langtoft. Teams of up to 6 – £12 per team. Raffle, bring you own nibbles and drinks. Proceeds to the Choir Fund.
Afternoon Tea – Monday 14th October – 2pm to 4pm
Rev Carolyn Bailey will be hosting another of her lovely Afternoon Teas at the vicarage. All most welcome to come along and have a cuppa and a natter.
Saturday 19th October
The Diocese will be putting on a workshop named “St Luke’s Tide Celebration of Healing and Wholeness – Unpacking Mental Health”. Information on the noticeboards in church or from Carolyn Bailey.
Coffee Morning – Saturday 26th October – 10am to 12 noon
St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding a Coffee Morning in the Church Hall, Thurlby in aid of MAF. Raffle, games, refreshments and much more
Sunday 27th October – 2pm to 5pm
St Firmin Church, Thurlby will be holding their very popular Repair Café in the Church Hall. A meeting place to come and repair all of your broken items, seek professional advice and get inspiration and it is completely FREE. Film Club – Monday 28th October
The Ness Group Film Club meets in the Church Hall in Thurlby. The film is “The Glenn Miller Story”. Donation of £2.50. Please do come along and have a nice relaxing time watching the film and then chatting to friends afterwards while you have afternoon tea.
Thursday 31st October – 7.30pm
The Ness Group All Souls Service will be held in St John the Baptist Church, Baston this year. If you would like the name of your loved one read out please ring Janet Low on 07790 969438 or email email@example.com for the name to be added to the list.
